John Haggerty and Katrin Gibb are now reading and selecting stories. Here is what they are looking for.
I am more a maximalist than a minimalist. I like Flannery O’Connor, Faulkner, and Melville more than Hemingway and Carver. I like beautiful sentences—if you write with rhythm and electricity, it will make me take notice.
Literature should take chances. Send me something that you were afraid to write, something that made you so uncomfortable you didn’t want to be in the same room with it. Break some rules. Teeter on the edge of failure. That’s where things really start to come alive.
I’m looking for writing that moves me. I want stories that make me ache or laugh out loud. I want stories that linger for days and don’t wrap-up in the end.
We look forward to reading your work!
