The editors at the Forge Literary Magazine are very pleased to announce our 2018 Fellowship winners and finalists. Many thanks to all who submitted, and to those who chipped in to help fund this fellowship for emerging writers. It was a pleasure to read so many strong submissions, and we regret that in the end we could only choose two fellows.

Winner Karen Bellavance-Grace

Karen Bellavance-Grace lives in Northampton, Massachusetts, where she has owned a small business, served as aide to the mayor, and was ‘that mom’ who allowed her son’s friends to sleep over every weekend. She was published in the anthologies Lesbians Raising Sons (1997) and Love Makes A Family (1999). Having successfully launched her children into adulthood, she is returning to writing and pursuing an MFA in Creative Nonfiction at Bay Path University.

Winner Christine Ma-Kellams

When she isn’t writing, Christine Ma-Kellams is a practicing social psychologist and college professor at the University of La Verne in Southern California. Her recent fiction has appeared or is forthcoming in Necessary Fiction, Zyzzyva, the Kenyon Review, and Gargoyle, among others. She is currently working on her first novel and a collection of linked short stories.
